12/13/11: Vicks Behind the Ear Thermometer Event at Finale in Boston

I was lucky enough to attend a Winter Warm Up Event with other Boston Parent Bloggers hosted by the makers of the new Vicks Behind the Ear thermometer.  We were treated to a lovely lunch and desserts at Finale in Boston as we listened to Dr. Meg Meeker.  Dr. Meg is a pediatrician who so graciously gave us tips for Cold and Flu Season.  She also authored the book “The 10 Habits of Happy Moms” which I am looking forward to reading as she provided us a copy.

I appreciated many points that she stressed during her presentation.
-  Trust your gut and you know know your child best.  You are your child's biggest advocate and you know when there is something wrong.  Make sure you bring all concerns to your Pediatrician.
-  We as Moms today are under so much pressure.  One comment she made was that if your child has the potential to become and Olympic Skier and you don't put them in classes and push that you feel like a bad Mom.  It is true that we all feel these pressures.  You can see some of my posts that highlight this thought:
- Kids just want to spend time with their Moms and Dads and hang out with them.
- The benefits of the Vicks Behind the Ear Thermometer and how it takes an accurate reading, plus displays a Green, Yellow or Red helping a panicking Mom or Dad when it is the middle of the night.  Plus hello, this is so much better than putting a thermometer in a baby where the sun don't shine.
In addition to thermometers, they have additional products that are a necessity during the winter months including:  humidifiers, vaporizers, and humidity monitors.  The starry night humidifier projects stars on the ceiling!  How cool is that?  I know my daughter tends to have issues with post nasal drip at night and coughs and a humidifier in her room is a necessity.
And look at this wonderful spread at Finale.  Their desserts are fantastic!
Disclosure:  Food and Vicks products were provided to me for this review.  No other compensation was received and all opinions are my own.
