8/17/15: Saturday Night Fever at the North Shore Music Theatre

It was time to put on my boogie shoes and have some fun at the North Shore Music Theatre (NSMT) for Saturday Night Fever.  Admit it when you read that you started singing "Stayin' Alive" in your highest Bee Gees voice!  I know I am still singing it.  Plus read on for a special announcement of shows for next season!

The cast was made up of some great dancers and actors.  The show runs until August 23rd so get your tickets now
Let's start out with Tony Wolf who plays Tony Manero.  This is the famed role by John Travolta.  I personally love John Travolta so I knew this would be a hard one to do.  I think he did phenomenal with talking like Tony did and his dancing was awesome.  The only issue I had was with his singing.  I am not sure if it was trying to stay in the character's voice but I felt like his singing just was not strong enough.  When he sang Stayin' Alive I thought maybe it was just nerves at the beginning of the show, however at the end when he sang Tragedy I felt like he also had issues.
I think he had great personality, however with the strong singers and dancers around him he did not stand out as much as I would have liked him to.
Tessa Grady who plays Stephanie Mangano is another key role.  Here dancing was awesome and she had a very powerful voice.  She sang "What Kind of Fool" wonderfully!
My favorite dancers in the show were Jovan Dansberry Andres and NaTonia Monet.  They were fantastic!
Another stunning pair were Andres Acosta who played Caesar and Michelle Marmolego as Maria.  Their lifts were amazing and flexibility was outstanding.
The set design was very well done and I felt like I was in a 70's club.  The block color panels were awesome along with the Disco Balls and bridge.  I also enjoyed Matthew Rodin when he sang Stuck with Audrey Tesserot who played his girlfriend.  Haley Swindal  (Candy) had a fabulous voice.  Pat McRoberts (Monty) was a hysterical DJ and did an awesome job acting and looking the part.
Overall the show was a lot of fun.
