11/27/15: Elf the Broadway Musical in Boston

What a better way to get in to the holiday spirit than watching a holiday show live!  We were lucky enough to go to Elf the Broadway Musical at the Citi Wang Theatre in Boston recently.  This show is so much fun for the entire family!   Judging by the reaction of the audience I think everyone really enjoyed the show.
The show is playing in Boston until December 6th so you still have time to buy tickets.Elf The Musical has opened in Boston. To buy tickets visit www.citicenter.org.
When a movie is turned in to a Musical I am always a bit worried of how it will compare.  This show truly captured the spirit of the movie and retold it in a wonderful way.
From the very beginning of the show everyone was enthralled.  I loved how Santa starts out and talks to the audience about the story of Buddy the Elf and even had a shout out to the New England Patriots.  The show really is hilarious at times and very touching.

The highlight of the show and the shining star is Buddy the Elf!
His dancing, singing and acting were spot on.  You could not help but giggle every time he did something.  He truly acted like a "fish out of water" in New York City.
There were so many touching moments with him.  You truly felt for him and wanted him to be happy.  I must admit I left the theatre singing "Buddy the Elf, It's the Story of Buddy the Elf".  Such a catchy tune.
The whole cast was so high energy.  The dancing and singing were wonderful.  The moments with Jovie were really sweet too.
I love when they were skating together at Rockefeller Center.  It was so beautifully done.
The music was wonderful also along with all the props and back drops.  One of our favorite musical numbers was "Nobody Cares About Santa".  They did a great job with this.
I love the depiction of a family with a Dad who is always busy for work and then learning the true meaning of Christmas by the end of the show.
When they sang the Christmas Song to get Santa's sleigh going I loved it.  "Just sing a Christmas song, it's like magic if things go wrong. Just spread some Christmas cheer, by singing loud for all to hear".  It was so beautiful.
Honestly not to sound totally sappy but sometimes we get totally caught up in the buying gifts and everything we need to "do" for the holidays that we forget some of what the season is all about.  I love another line from the Christmas Song "The ornaments you made way back in second grade, untangling Christmas lights...let those moments live again".  It did make me think back to when I was a child at Christmas and how magical it really was and it helped me put things in perspective.  Being a parent can make the holidays overwhelming but if we focus on believing in the magic of the season it makes it a wonderful time of year!
